tomy Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 Hiya all after just buying our galaxy I asume all the diesels have the extra heater under the nearside rear sill , I am pretty sure mine isnt working , Should I get the vag-com lead and software to diagnose the fault or just change the plug in it as this seems to be the common fault , but if I change the plug will i need the vag-com to reset it ???? if I do where is the socket that you plug the vag-com into???? Cheers guys Quote
marinabrid Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 hi if it a mk 1 the sockewt is under the ashtray. from what i know buying the software and vagcom does not gaurantee the aux heater will communicate with it, particulaly the mk1 models.ive done 2 now both mk 1 and they have not required the resetting done.changing the glowplug is a favorite or bridge the temp sensor on the wiper linkage arm to see if that sparks it into life. tomy Posted February 6, 2006 Author Report Posted February 6, 2006 Mine is a 1.9 td glx on a p plate and I dont think it has the heater was it an option on this model , I've had a look underneath and i can see two big pipes running from the front to the back but i just have an empty space where i think the heater should be and i cant find the exhaust off it anywhere??????? Ive looke at the piccs on other theads as well so i think i am looking in the right place . Quote
Masked Marauder Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 You should have the heater, it was pretty much standard kit on a diesel. It is located underneath the car just by the back passenger side door. Quote
tomy Posted February 7, 2006 Author Report Posted February 7, 2006 I have read all the other posts and I know where it should be I looked at the pictures of it being removed and stripped down on other posts but there just seems to be a empty space where it should be ?????? Quote
malcolm.dobell Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 I'm speculating, but didn't some basic vehicles come with 5 seats and no rear heater. Perhaps that negated the need for the auxiliary booster heater?? Quote
tomy Posted February 7, 2006 Author Report Posted February 7, 2006 It has all seven seats unless they were added after !!! Quote
